Tutoring & Lessons

How do your tutoring sessions work?
All sessions are one-to-one and take place online via video call. Each session typically lasts 60 minutes and is tailored to the student's individual needs, whether that's A-Level content, admissions test preparation, or interview practice. We match each student with a tutor who has direct experience in their subject and target university.
Are lessons online or in person?
All our lessons are online. This allows us to match students with the best possible tutor regardless of location, and gives students the flexibility to learn from home. Online sessions are conducted via Zoom or a similar video platform, with screen sharing for working through problems together.
How long is each session?
Standard sessions are 60 minutes. Some students prefer 90-minute sessions for intensive admissions test practice or mock interviews. We can adjust session length to suit your needs.
Can I book a single session or do I need a package?
Both options are available. You can book individual sessions or purchase a package at a discounted rate. Packages are particularly popular for students preparing for admissions tests or interviews over several weeks. See our pricing page for details.
What subjects do you cover?
We cover all major A-Level and IB subjects, GCSE revision, university admissions tests (ESAT, STEP, UCAT, LNAT, TMUA), mock interviews, and personal statement guidance. If you have a specific subject need, get in touch and we'll let you know if we can help.

University Admissions Support

Do you help with Oxford and Cambridge applications?
Yes, Oxbridge admissions support is one of our core services. We help with every stage: subject choice advice, personal statement writing and review, admissions test preparation, and realistic mock interviews. All our Oxbridge tutors are graduates of Oxford or Cambridge themselves.
Do you support applications to Imperial, UCL, and other top universities?
Yes. While Oxbridge is our specialty, we also support students applying to Imperial College London, UCL, LSE, and other Russell Group universities. Our tutors can help with admissions tests, personal statements, and interview preparation for a range of competitive courses.
Can you guarantee I will get an offer?
No, and we would be wary of any service that claims to. University admissions decisions are made entirely by the institutions themselves. What we can do is help you present the strongest possible application by building genuine subject knowledge, sharpening your interview technique, and ensuring your personal statement is compelling and authentic.
When should I start preparing for Oxbridge?
The earlier the better, but the most common starting points are: 12+ months before application for building subject knowledge and supercurricular engagement, 6 months before for admissions test preparation, and 2-3 months before interviews for mock interview practice. Even a few weeks of focused preparation can make a meaningful difference.
Do you help international students?
Absolutely. We work with international students from around the world, including many from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Middle East. Our tutors can advise on qualification equivalencies, English language requirements, and the specific challenges international applicants face.

Interview Preparation

What are your mock interviews like?
Our mock interviews replicate the real Oxbridge experience as closely as possible. A tutor who studied your subject at Oxford or Cambridge will ask questions in the same style as real interviewers, problem-solving, discussion-based, and designed to test how you think, not what you've memorised. After the mock, you receive detailed feedback on your approach, communication, and areas to improve.
How many mock interviews should I do?
We recommend at least 2-3 mock interviews, ideally spread over several weeks so you can work on the feedback between sessions. Some students do more, particularly if they are applying for very competitive courses like Medicine or Law. Quality matters more than quantity, one well-debriefed mock is worth more than five rushed ones.
Do you cover subject-specific interview questions?
Yes. Every mock interview is subject-specific. Your tutor will draw on the types of questions actually asked in recent interview cycles for your subject and university. We also cover personal statement-based questions, since interviewers frequently use your statement as a starting point.

Admissions Tests

Which admissions tests do you cover?
We offer preparation for all major UK university admissions tests: ESAT (Engineering and Science Admissions Test), TMUA (Test of Mathematics for University Admission), STEP (Sixth Term Examination Paper), UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test for Medicine and Dentistry), and LNAT (Law National Aptitude Test). Each tutor specialises in the specific test they help prepare for. Note that several older tests (MAT, PAT, TSA, ELAT, HAT) have been discontinued and replaced by the current UAT-UK tests used across Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, and other leading universities.
How far in advance should I start preparing for an admissions test?
We recommend starting 3-6 months before the test date. The first phase should focus on checking the test specification against your school syllabus, some tests cover topics your school may not have taught yet. The middle phase is for building problem-solving skills through resources beyond past papers. The final weeks are for timed practice under exam conditions.
Do you have your own practice questions?
Yes. In addition to working through official past papers, our tutors have access to our private question bank with additional practice material. This is particularly valuable because official past papers run out quickly, and students need varied practice to build genuine fluency.

Our Tutors

Who are your tutors?
All our tutors are graduates of Oxford, Cambridge, or other world-leading universities. They have first-hand experience of the admissions process and strong academic backgrounds in the subjects they teach. Many hold postgraduate qualifications or are completing PhDs. Every tutor undergoes an enhanced DBS check and interview before joining our team.
How are students matched with tutors?
We match based on subject, target university, and learning style. When you book, we ask about the student's goals, current level, and any preferences. We then suggest the best-fit tutor from our team. If the match isn't right, we're happy to reassign, the right tutor-student fit matters enormously.
Can I request a specific tutor?
Yes. If you've seen a tutor profile on our website and would like to work with them specifically, just let us know when booking. Availability permitting, we'll arrange it.

Do you offer discounts for multiple sessions?
Yes. We offer package discounts for students booking multiple sessions. The more sessions you book upfront, the lower the per-session rate. Contact us for package pricing tailored to your needs.

Personal Statements

Do you help with personal statements?
Yes. We offer full personal statement support, from brainstorming and first drafts through to final polish. Our tutors know what admissions tutors at Oxford, Cambridge, and other top universities look for, and can help you present your genuine academic interests compellingly. We also provide annotated example statements on our website.
Has the UCAS personal statement format changed?
Yes. From the 2026 entry cycle (applications submitted from September 2025), UCAS replaced the single free-form essay with three structured questions. The total character limit is still 4,000 characters, but you now answer three specific prompts: (1) Why do you want to study this course? (2) How have your studies prepared you? (3) What relevant experiences have you had outside education? Each answer must be at least 350 characters. All our guidance and examples reflect the new format.
How much does Oxbridge care about the personal statement?
It varies by college. Most colleges use the personal statement as a starting point for interview questions, they want to see what you're genuinely interested in and how deeply you've engaged with your subject. Some colleges (like Trinity, Cambridge) have historically said they barely read it. Importantly, Oxbridge does not care about sports, volunteering, or extracurriculars. Every sentence should be about your academic subject.
