Who It Is For
Families We Teach
Families who home-educate
You lead your child’s education and want specialist teaching in the subjects that matter most, whether that is one subject or most of the week.
Families living abroad
You follow the British curriculum from overseas, in Japan, Singapore, China or elsewhere, and want tutors who know the UK exams. Lessons are online, at times that suit your time zone.
Students between schools
Your child is out of school for a term or longer, after a move or a change of plan, and needs to keep up and go back ready.
Students with a demanding timetable
Training, performing or other commitments take up the school day, so lessons are planned around them.
What We Teach
From KS3 to A-level and IB
Every lesson is one-to-one and online, with a tutor who knows the subject well. You choose how much of the week we cover, and we plan the subjects, the order and the exams together.
Ages 11 to 14
KS3 Foundations
The years before GCSE are where gaps begin. We teach maths, English and the sciences, and other subjects on request, so a student starts GCSE or IGCSE courses on firm foundations.
- Maths, English and science at the right pace for the student
- Reading and writing habits that carry into every later subject
- A clear view of when the student is ready to begin GCSE or IGCSE courses
GCSE and IGCSE
GCSE and International GCSE
Many home-educating families choose International GCSEs (IGCSEs), because a large number of them can be taken by exams alone, with no coursework for a school to supervise. We teach both, and help you choose the exam board and the subjects.
- Choosing a board and subjects that suit the student and the courses they may aim for later
- Working through the full specification, not only past papers
- Timed practice and mock exams before the real exam series
- Planning which subjects to sit in which exam series
A-level and IB
A-level and IB at Home
A-levels can be taken at home as a private candidate. The sciences need the most planning, because A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics carry a separate practical endorsement that has to be assessed in person at a centre. The IB Diploma is taken through an IB World School, so for IB students we teach alongside the school or online programme they are registered with.
- Teaching the full A-level or IB course, in one subject or several
- Planning science practicals, or a route such as Pearson Edexcel International A-levels, where practical skills are tested in written papers
- Admissions tests and interviews alongside A-levels, for students aiming at Oxford, Cambridge and other top universities
Sitting Exams
Sitting Exams as a Private Candidate
A home-educated student sits GCSEs, IGCSEs and A-levels as a private candidate: the family finds an exam centre that accepts private candidates, books the entries and pays the centre’s fees. Centres set their own entry deadlines, often months before the exams, so it pays to plan a year ahead. We are not an exam centre; we help with everything around it.
- A timeline for each subject, from the first lesson to exam day
- Which papers, tiers and options to enter, so the entries match what was taught
- What to ask a centre before you book: access arrangements, practicals, speaking tests and coursework
