The ESAT and TMUA recall sheet

No formulae booklet. No calculator. Everything you need in the room has to already be in your head - so here is the list, ranked by how often each entry actually mattered.

Both specifications are explicit: candidates sit these papers without a calculator and without a formulae booklet. That turns every relationship on the syllabus into a memorisation liability, and it makes one question worth answering before you start memorising - which ones actually come up?

We tagged 1,250 real past-paper questions to find out. The sheet lists all 695 entries across the seven modules - every formula, rule, definition and technique - each tied to the specification clause that requires it, with the variables, the equivalent forms and the mistakes that actually cost marks. ESAT physics additionally carries a measured frequency against each entry, because physics is the module we have tagged formula by formula so far; the other six are ranked by topic rather than by entry.

The ten physics relationships that earned their place.

Ranked by the share of 193 tagged ESAT physics questions that could not be solved without them. These percentages do not add up - one question often needs several formulae.

About the recall sheet

No. The ESAT provides neither a formulae booklet nor a calculator, so every relationship on the specification has to be memorised. The TMUA specification says the same. That is the reason this sheet exists.
The formulae, rules and techniques for all seven ESAT and TMUA modules, each one tied to the specification clause that requires it, and each shown with how often it was actually needed across the past-paper questions we tagged.
Yes. We ask for an email address so we can send it to you and follow up with a short prep sequence. You can unsubscribe from any email in one click.
From 1,250 real past-paper questions: ENGAA and NSAA Section 1 filtered against the current ESAT specification, plus the 2016-2023 TMUA sittings and the early specimen. No question we wrote ourselves is counted.

The sheet tells you what to learn. The bank tells you whether you have.
