Why BIO coaching is hard to find
A tutor who has only taught Computer Science to A-Level has not met these problems. Competition papers are not harder versions of the syllabus, they are a different kind of work, and coaching them means having sat them. That is why most agencies quietly decline this, and why students who want to prepare seriously are usually left with a past-paper archive and no one to mark it.

The British Informatics Olympiad (BIO) is the UK's national competition in computer programming. Students solve algorithmic problems by writing and testing real code, and the top performers are selected towards the UK team at the International Olympiad in Informatics. It is one of the clearest ways for a computer science applicant to show genuine problem-solving and coding ability.
The British Informatics Olympiad is a programming competition sat in schools, usually over the winter. Students are given algorithmic problems and must write, test, and debug working code to solve them, so it rewards clear thinking about algorithms and data as much as raw coding speed.
Round 1 is completed in schools; the top scorers are invited to a final, and the strongest students are selected towards the UK team at the International Olympiad in Informatics. The problems can be tackled in common languages, so what matters is problem-solving, not familiarity with a specific framework.
For a computer science applicant, a serious BIO attempt is an unusually direct demonstration of ability: it shows an admissions tutor that you can turn a problem into a correct, efficient algorithm and then into working code.
